Recruitment of Engineering Assistants in All India Radio and DoorDarshan

All India Radio and Doordarshan require 215 Engineering Assistants for Radio Stations/Doordarshan Kendras/LPTV Relay Centres etc. in the network. These vacancies may be treated as tentative which are subject to change in future with the change in circumstance, if any. The network has been divided into five Zones i.e. North Zone, East Zone, North East Zone, West Zone and South Zone comprising of the States as given below:-
NORTH ZONE Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan,
Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi and Union Territory of Chandigarh.
EAST ZONE West Bengal, Orissa, Bihar and Jharkhand,
NORTH EAST ZONE Assam, Meghalaya, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland & Sikkim .
WEST ZONE Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chattisgarh, Gujarat, Goa,
Union Territories of Daman and Diu, Dadar and Nager Haveli.
SOUTH ZONE Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Union Territories of Pondicherry , Andaman & Nicobar islands and Lakshadweep.
1) Scale of Pay: Rs.5000-150-Rs.8000/-. plus usual allowances as admissible which is likely to be
revised.
2) Classification: The appointment will be governed by the terms and conditions applicable to Prasar Bharati employees.
3) Qualification:
a)Essential:Three years Diploma in Radio/Tele-communication/Electrical/Electronics/InformationTechnology/
Electrica Communication Engineering recognised by Government of India.
OR
Degree with Physics as one of the subjects from a
recognised University.
OR
Degree in Engineering in the relevant field (as mentioned above for Diploma) from a recognised University
OR
Diploma in Sound recording and Sound Engineering awarded by Film and Television Institute of India, Pune.
b) Desirable: Knowledge of Wireless or Radio Engineering.
4) Age: 18 - 27 years as on 07/10/2008
( Upper age limit is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC/Departmental
candidates/Ex-serviceman/PH and those who had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of J&K during the period with effect from 01.01.1980 – 31.12.1989 as given below:-
i) For SC/ST candidates : - 05 years
ii) For OBC: - 03 years
iii) For Deptt. Gen. Category candidates: -Up to the age of 40 years
iv) For deptt. SC/ST candidates:- Up to the age of 45 years
v) For PH general candidates: - 10 years
vi) For SC/ST category PH candidates: 15 years
vii) For Ex-servicemen -service rendered in Army/Navy/
Air Force+ three years
viii)For candidates who had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of J & K during the period of 1.1.1980 – 31.12.1989 : - 05 years)
Note:
i) Age limit and essential qualifications must be fulfilled as on 07.10.2008 (closing date)
ii) Ex-servicemen, who have already joined Government job in civil side, after availing of the benefits given to them as Ex-Servicemen for the re-employment, are eligible to the age concession for securing another employment in a higher grade. However, they are not eligible for the benefit of reservation for Ex-servicemen for securing another employment in higher grade.
iii) Departmental candidates are those who have put in at least three years of continuous service on 07.10.2008 in All India Radio and Doordarshan and other media units under Ministry of Information and Broadcasting in the post of Technician/Sr. Technician or equivalent posts.
iv) Any person intending to avail the relaxation at 4(viii) above shall submit the certificate from either District Magistrate within whose jurisdiction he/she had ordinarily resided or any other authority designated for this purpose by the Govt of Jammu & Kashmir that he/she had ordinarily been domiciled in the state of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 01.01.1980 to 31.12.1989.
5) JOB REQUIREMENTS
Maintenance and operation of Electrical / Electronics equipments (Radio/TV) at various ALL INDIA RADIO and DOORDARSHAN Centres in the network. The appointee will be required to work mainly in shifts and is liable to be transferred anywhere in the Zone selected by him/her.
6) PROCEDURE OF RECRUITMENT :
The recruitment will be made on the basis of a written test of two hours duration scheduled to be held on 21/12/2008 from 1100 hrs to 1300 hrs at different centers shown in Table – I , column-(2). The written test will consist of one paper having 175 objective type questions based on the syllabus of three years Diploma courses/B. Sc (Physics) and 25 objective type questions on General Knowledge and Current Affairs. Each question will carry two marks. Negative marking will be resorted for wrong answer. One mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.
7) HOW TO APPLY?
(i) Obtaining Application forms:-
Applications should be submitted in the prescribed OMR Application Form. The application fee is Rs. 100/- (Rupees one hundred only) for General / OBC candidates & Rs 25/- (Rupees Twenty Five) for SC/ ST/ PH / Ex-Serviceman candidates. The application form can be obtained w.e.f. 01/09/2008 to 30/09/2008 in person or by post as per following procedure:-
(a) In person-: The forms can be collected from any of the main branch of State Bank of India given in Table-I, column(3) w.e.f. 01/09/2008 to 30/09/2008 after depositing the required application fee in cash to the bank. In case of SC/ ST/ PH / Ex-Serviceman candidates, an attested copy of SC/ST/PH/Ex-Serviceman certificate is also required to be submitted at the bank for availing concessional application fee. The candidate shall be required to pay additional handling charges of Rs. 10/-(Ten) also to the bank. The candidate shall have to deposit in cash either Rs. (25+10) 35/- or Rs. (100+10) 110 in cash, depending upon the category to which he/she belongs.
(b) Through post-: A request letter in candidate's own handwriting along with self addressed envelope of size 14” X 10” with postal stamp of Rs.32/- duly affixed on it, Demand draft of application fee amount (Rs. 100/- or Rs. 25/- depending on the category) in favour of "Prasar Bharati(BCI) payable at New Delhi" and an attested copy of SC/ST/PH/Ex-Serviceman certificate in case of candidates of these categories in support of availing concessional application fee should be sent to Chief Engineer(Training), Staff Training Institute(Technical), AIR & Doordarshan, Kingsway, Delhi-110009 during the above period. Demand Draft payable at a place other than New Delhi shall not be entertained. The name and address of the candidates should be written on the back side of demand draft. The envelope of request letter should be superscribed with “Recruitment of Engineering Assistants-2008”. Prasar Bharati will not be responsible for late receipt of application forms at the candidate’s address by post. Application fee will be non-refundable.
(ii) Filling of Application forms:-
(a) Candidates have to select one of the Zones for appointment (North, West, East, North East, or South) and indicate the same in the application form. Choice for more than one zone will lead to rejection of application. Zone, once selected, will not be changed under any circumstances.
(b)The candidate may opt for an Examination Centre only in the Zone opted for and not in other zones. However, the candidate could be allotted to any other examination centre within the Zone depending upon exigencies. The zone-wise details of cities where written test will be conducted are given in Table –I column (2). Actual venue in these cities will be indicated in the Admit Card. Once allocated, change of examination centre will not be allowed.
(c) A recent passport size colour photograph should be pasted (not pinned) on the application form.
(d) The OMR application form should be filled up carefully by following the instructions printed therein. None of the certificates like proof of caste/PH/Ex-Serviceman, date of birth, educational qualifications, and domicile certificate in J&K etc. should be enclosed with the OMR form. All these certificates will be verified in ORIGINAL before the appointment. If any of these certificates or any information furnished by candidates is found incorrect at any stage before or after appointment; the candidature as well as the appointment will be cancelled.
(iii) Submission of Application forms:-
The applications should be submitted to the respective Zonal Chief Engineers on the basis of zone opted for appointment, at the addresses given below , by post or courier or in person so as to reach on or before 1600 hrs on 07/10/2008. The candidates who are depositing their applications personally may deposit their application on any working day during 1000-1600 hrs up to 07/10/2008. In respect of applications received only by post(speed post/by courier) from the candidates residing in Assam, Meghalaya, Arunchal Pradesh, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Sikkim, Jammu & Kashmir, Lahaul and spiti District and Pangi Sub Division of Chamba District of Himachal Pradesh, Andaman and Nicobar Islands and Lakshadweep, the last date for receipt of application is 15/10/2008.
Admit card will be dispatched to all eligible candidates Under Postal Certificate by the first week of December, 2008. The candidates along with Admit Card should report to the Examination Superintendent at the place of written test indicated in the Admit Card half an hour before the scheduled time. Candidates not in possession of Admit Card will not be allowed entry to the Examination Hall. All the information relating to this examination including notification and any change in the schedule of examination will be displayed on the following websites: www.allindiaradio.gov.in and www.ddindia.gov.in. The required information can be seen by clicking link "Information" on home page. Suitable announcements will also be made through All India Radio/Doordarshan.
The answer sheet will also be in OMR format and the instructions given therein will have to be strictly followed. Candidates have to carry ball pen/HB pencil for answering the questions. Use of calculator/slide rulers will be permitted. Use of any form of mobile communication like cell phone, pager, etc. inside the hall is strictly prohibited.
The SC/ST candidates, who are not employed anywhere, will be paid single to and fro sleeper II class rail fare / ordinary bus fare by shortest route from his place of residence as mentioned in his mailing address to the place of Examination for attending the test as admissible under the rules. The candidate should present original bus / railway ticket and attested photocopy of caste certificate at the examination centre for this purpose. Decision of Controller of examination Centre regarding payment of TA shall be final.
Results will be declared by the respective Zones separately through the ‘Employment News' and the same will also be available on the website of All India Radio & Doordarshan mentioned above. Correspondence, if any, after the declaration of the result is to be made with the respective Zonal Chief Engineers. Roll No. and name of the centre must be indicated at the top of the letter in bold capital letters in all such correspondences.
